Nexus 48 on Dreams and Responsibilities >>>

The latest issue of the Dutch journal Nexus has as its theme "Dreams and responsibilities".
In 1937, in his immortal short story ‘In Dreams Begin Responsibilities’, the American poète maudit Delmore Schwartz gave a pregnant description of his own intellectual awakening. Seventy years later, the Nexus journal gives the floor to 25 of the greatest talents of the present generation under forty, to express themselves about their intellectual awakening, the moment in which they became conscious that their talents also carried responsibilities. Responsibilities towards whom? Towards themselves, society, the future, their families, artistic tradtion, their self-selected examples? Which choices have arisen from this consciousness? Never before have young intellectuals (writer, poet, filmmaker, conductor, visual artist, architect, diplomat, biologist, journalist, theatrical director, pianist, legist, ballet danser, photographer) from so many different linguistic areas (French, English, Hebrew, Serbo-Croatian, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, , Swedish, Danish, Polish, Dutch) spoken out so frankly and probingly on their intellectual well-being.
Authors include:  Nathalie Alonso Casale, Hania Bitar, Astrid Bussink, Ilse Frech, Emanuel Gat, Susan Giroux, Micha Hamel, Johan Harstad, Cuny Janssen, Šejla Kamerić, Laila Lalami, Nicola Lecca, Emmanuel Lenain, Bert de Muynck, Ralph van Raat, Jonathan van het Reve, Andreas Roepstorff, Tomasz Różycki, Delmore Schwartz, Igor Sevcuk, Naema Tahir, David Trueba, Dejan Ubovic, Fredrik Ullén, Eric de Vroedt en Rob Wijnberg.

The journal only appears in Dutch. See for detailed information: www.nexus-instituut.nl.
