is regarded as one of the most important American novelists of the 20th century. In 1949 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Some of Faulkner’s most important works are The Sound and the Fury (1929), As I Lay Dying (1930), Sanctuary (1931), Light in August (1932), Absalom, Absalom (1936) and Go Down, Moses (1942).
