Martha Nussbaum
(USA, 1947)

 

studied at the Universities of New York and Harvard and has taught at the Universities of Harvard en Oxford. She is currently working as a professor attached to the Law School at the University of Chigago. Since 1986 she has been research adviser to the World Institute for Development Economics Research (part of the University of the United Nations) in Helsinki. Her work has received several awards and she has received two honorary degrees. Her published work includes Aristotle's De Motu Animalium (1978), The Fragility of Goodness: Luck and Ethics in Greek Tragedy and Philosophy (1986) and The Quality of Life (written together with Amartya Sen).
