survived the Budapest ghetto and emigrated to Sweden after the war, where he led the Department of Tumour Biology at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm for 35 years. In addition to his work as a doctor and scientist, he is also the author of brilliant essays, collected in the three books Pietà, The Atheist and the Holy City and Live Now. From 1957-1993, Klein was a member of the Nobel Committee.
