Diederik Kraaijpoel
(The Netherlands, 1928)

 

is an artist, non-conformist writer and academy teacher. He is the most remarkable dutch advocate of the Great Figurative Tradition in the visual arts. In his books - De Nieuwe Salon: officiële beeldende kunst na 1945 (1989), Was Pollock kleurenblind? Bouwstenen voor de herschrijving van de kunstgeschiedenis (1997) and Reputaties: hoe de kunstenaar aan zijn goede naam komt (2001) – he launches an attack on the suppremacy of modernism in the visual arts. He works and lives in Groningen.
