![]() is the Director of the annual Vail International Dance Festival, and he is active as a producer of performances of dance and music around the world. From 1989 until 2008, Woetzel was a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet, performing all of the major repertory. He also performed regularly as an international guest artist, starring with many of the world’s great ballet companies, including the American Ballet Theatre and the Kirov Ballet. From 1994 to 2007, Woetzel was artistic director of the School of Ballet at the New York State Summer School for the Arts. He has also written on the arts for Vanity Fair magazine. In 2007, he was appointed to the new Harvard Task Force on the Arts. He is an active member of a number of leading art advisory committees, a nominating judge for the Astaire Awards for excellence in dancing and choreography on Broadway, and a 2009 juror for the Princess Grace Awards for talented young dancers in 2009. For his contribution to the arts and to art education, he has received many awards and prizes. |
