is a concert violinist in Paris, but is widely known for his documentaries on legendary interpreters of classical music, as Nadia Boulanger, Murrah Perahia, Michael Tilson Thomas Zoltan Kocsis, Paul Tortelier, Julius Katchen and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. His filmportraits of Yehudi Menuhin and Sviatoslav Richter have been awarded many times at international film festivals. Monsaingeon reached world fame with his seven documentaries on the excentric Canadian pianist Glenn Gould, such as The Goldberg Variations (1981), Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould (1993) and, more recently, Hereafter (2005).
