is a political scientist and a Research Fellow in the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris. Chairman of the Board Stefan Batory Foundation in Warsaw. He studied economics and sociology at the University of Warsaw and international relations at the School for Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University 1989-1990, after 18 years of emigration political advisor to Tadeusz Mazowiecki, Prime Minister of Poland; 1992-1993, foreign policy adviser to Prime Minister Hanna Suchocka. His articles on foreign policy and internal dynamics in Central Europe are published both in Poland and in several countries of Western Europe.
