![]() studied philosophy, politics and sociology in Yugoslavia, Austria and England and has a doctorate in historical sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Between 1987 and 1993 he was a fellow at the Russian Research Center, Harvard. In the autumn of 2000 he was a public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington. He is the author of The Contested Country: Yugoslav Unity and Communist Revolution, 1919-1953, Harvard University Press (1991; paperback edition 1996). He has written, edited or coedited eight other books dealing with history and politics of Yugoslavia or with nationalistic conflicts in the world. In 2004 a new collection of his essays will be published in Belgrade. He has also published poems and short stories. |
